On the 29th April this year Tadcaster hosted two race starts for the Tour De Yorkshire. Not only was this great for the town but the stage two race’s start outside of our doors….
The action commenced on the newly-reopened Tadcaster Bridge and ventured into Knaresborough where the first intermediate sprint points were up for grabs. The sole categorised climb comes on the Côte de Lofthouse and then it was on to Ripon for the second intermediate sprint. The race skirted Fountains Abbey before a fast approach to Harrogate, and the action reached its crescendo along Parliament Street, just as it did on the opening stage of the 2014 Tour de France.
